The Tourism Sustainability Community, operating within the Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Tourism and Hotel Management Vocational School, participated in the Spring Festivals organized by our University.
At the community's stand, information was provided to students, academic and administrative staff, and other participants on the concepts of sustainability in the tourism sector, environmentally friendly tourism practices, and zero waste management, and mutual exchange of views took place.
In addition, a food distribution for stray animals was carried out with the sponsorship of Tiger Pet company. This initiative served as an example of the community's social responsibility work and received great interest from animal-loving participants.
Advisor of the Tourism Sustainability Community: Lecturer Meryem Nisa KERKEZ, in her assessment of the event, stated:
“Sustainability has become an indispensable element of today's tourism understanding. It is valuable for our students to be raised with this awareness, both for their professional development and for the benefit of society. Today, we tried to explain the scope of sustainable tourism and also had the opportunity to support street animals with the valuable contributions of Tiger Pet.”
Community President Musa Polat and Vice President Enes Kaplan expressed their satisfaction with the interest shown in the event, stating:
“Our aim was to convey to the participants that sustainability is not limited only to the environment, but also requires a holistic approach encompassing social and economic dimensions. We were also pleased by the sensitivity shown to the issue by our friends and staff who visited our stand. We will continue to develop our work with a focus on sustainability.”
The stand event, organized as part of the Spring Festivals, was met with great interest from the participants, and it was announced that the work of the Tourism Sustainability Community will continue with different events in the coming periods.
